ARE Distinguished Professor Emeritus Julian Alston Confirmed as a “Foreign Correspondent” of the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine

Last month, Distinguished Professor Emeritus Julian Alston was confirmed as a Foreign Correspondent of the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine at the Academy’s annual meeting, held at the beautiful Auditorium di Sant’Apollonia in Florence.
The Italian Academy of Vine and Wine, established in 1949, aims to promote the Italian grape and wine industries by contributing to the progress of the sciences and their applications to viticulture and enology. Its members are all honorary, in various categories. Italian and Foreign “Correspondents" of the Academy are nominated and chosen from "among personalities who have acquired deserved fame in the studies or in the practice of viticulture and enology or other related activities.”
Alston says it is a great honor to have been appointed as a Foreign Correspondent, but that he understands that the honor also brings with it an expectation of continuing contributions to the mission of the Academy.
