Oct. 17, 2023
Congratulations to ARE professor Travis Lybbert on his appointment as the new Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) Chair.
The Standing Panel on Impact Assessment is an external, impartial panel of experts in impact assessment appointed by the System Council and accountable to it. SPIA is responsible for providing rigorous evidence of the reach and causal impacts of CGIAR research and for providing independent strategic advice to the CGIAR System on efficient and effective impact assessment methods and practices, including those measuring impacts beyond contributions to science and economic performance, and on innovative ways to improve knowledge and capacity on how research contributes to development outcomes.
Since 2019, professor Lybbert has served as a SPIA Special Initiative Member, and over the past 25 years he has worked recurrently with CGIAR partners. With SPIA, Professor Lybbert has been particularly involved in the Uganda and Ethiopia country studies.
The nomination of Professor Lybbert follows a competitive recruitment process, and the CGIAR System Council has confirmed his appointment as SPIA Chair effective from October 1, 2023.
