ARE Ph.D. Alumni and Professor and Chair Rachael Goodhue Awarded AAEA Honor for Professional Excellence for Co-Authoring Paper: “Balancing Bees and Pest Management: Projected Costs of Proposed Bee-protective Neonicotinoid Regulation in California”

ARE professor and chair Rachael Goodhue, ARE Ph.D. alumni Jessica Rudder, Tor Tolhurst, and Hanlin Wei, and former ARE Postdoctoral Scholar Daniel Tregeagle were awarded the Honor for Professional Excellence at the AAEA annual meeting in Anaheim.
The specialty crop economics section of AAEA awards the Honor for Professional Excellence in recognition of superior achievement in agricultural and applied economics as exemplified by an outstanding published paper which significantly contributed to transdisciplinary work or specialty crops industries. The paper published in the Journal of Economic Entomology, and co-authored by Kevi Mace, Jessica Rudder, Rachael Goodhue, Tor Tolhurst, Daniel Tregeagle, Hanlin Wei, Beth Grafton-Cardwell, Ian Grettenberger, Houston Wilson, Robert Van Steenwyk, Frank Zalom, John Steggall, can be read here.
ARE alumni Jessica Rudder (Ph.D. 2021) is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Development Lab at the University of Chicago, Tor Tolhurst (Ph.D. 2020) is an Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Economics Department at Purdue University, and Hanlin Wei (Ph.D. 2021) is an Assistant Professor, in the Agricultural Economics Department at China Agricultural University. Former ARE Postdoctoral Scholar Daniel Tregeagle (2017–2019) is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at North Carolina State University.
