Jacob Marder: Economic Consultant at Robins Kaplan (NYC Office)
June 20, 2016
Jacob Marder, Ph.D. '16, has accepted a position as an economic consultant in the New York City office of Robins Kaplan LLP. Robins Kaplan is a litigation-focused law firm with over 230 attorneys and offices in six U.S. cities. Jacob will work in the business litigation unit with the antitrust and trade regulation team. While at UC Davis, Jacob worked (and was deposed on) two separate below-cost pricing cases heard by the Superior Court of California and served as an advisor to the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia on a humanitarian food aid program. His dissertation (supervised by Rich Sexton (chair), Jeffrey Williams, and Colin Carter) examined the economics of the rare earth metals industry, with an emphasis on the effects of China's comparative advantage in rare earth production on the behavior of prices. Jacob and his wife Tamar will move to New York at the end of the summer.
