March 2, 2016
Jisang Yu has accepted a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. Yu's research employs microeconomic theory and advanced econometric tools to investigate how farmers respond to the incentives from agricultural insurance. In his dissertation, he provides a conceptual framework on the production effects of various crop insurance products including area-yield index insurance, and empirically estimates the acreage effect of U.S. crop insurance premium subsidy. Yu's dissertation committee consists of Daniel Sumner (co-chair), Michael Carter (co-chair), and Aaron Smith.
