Jean Paul Pétraud: IMPAQ International
April 24, 2014
Jean Paul Pétraud will be joining IMPAQ International in Washington, DC as a research associate. His research is about poor people's strategies to improve their welfare, including how they cope with crop risk, borrow, save, or migrate. He has conducted experimental games and surveys in Africa, Asia, and Latin America in order to better understand the incentives and constraints people face. Jean Paul's market paper, "Competing theories of risk preferences and the demand for crop insurance" uses experimental evidence from Peru, in order to test whether features of prospect theory, rather than expected utility theory, better predict cotton farmers' crop insurance choices.
