Assets and Market Access Innovation Lab Team Wins BIFAD Award for Scientific Excellence

Michael Carter, ARE professor and director of the Assets and Market Access (AMA) Innovation Lab (formally BASIS CRSP), is part of a team of researchers who received the 2016 Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) Award for Scientific Excellence in a Feed the Future Innovation Lab. The purpose was to recognize individual researchers and/or a team of researchers for:

  1. Demonstrated creativity in bringing about long-lasting, sustainable improvements in international food and agriculture
  2. Evidence of sustainable increases in food security and economic growth without degradation to the environment
  3. Success in communicating and disseminating the results to other peoples and places

Carter's AMA Innovation Lab is a virtual institute comprised of researchers from around the globe that operates in support of USAID's Bureau of Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade. The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Assets and Market Access identifies and supports innovative agricultural economic research and promotes those projects that empower the vulnerable to sustainably rise up out of poverty.
